I have had the great opportunity to speak with a number of people today. Shockingly all have shared something similar with me, “2018 was rough, but maybe 2019 will be better.” In hearing this statement I hear a sense of hope and optimism, which is a wonderful place to start the year. Many expressed how anxious they have been over the last year or more, or a major loss they have experienced and are struggling to cope with, or even an addiction they have been battling.
Now, what if I told you we can help you in making 2019 better?! Speaking for myself that statement would grab my attention and bring about a sense of curiosity, leading to questions such as How can someone else help?, Who is this person? Why would they want to help me?…

Kayla completed her Masters of Science degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from St. Cloud State University in St. Cloud, MN after obtaining her undergraduate degree in Psychology from Winona State University. Kayla completed her internship at Lighthouse counseling working with individuals, families, and couples. Her professional experience has included personal growth counseling with college students, inpatient counseling with adolescents, as well as adult clients. As an a clinician Kayla uses a framework of cognitive behavioral therapy, Gestalt therapy, and family systems.
