Becky obtained her undergraduate degree from Michigan State University in Music Education and Music therapy. She taught public school music prior to obtaining her degree in counseling. Becky obtained her Masters of Art Degree in Counseling from Asbury Seminary in Wilmore Kentucky, and later earned her Master’s Certificate in Marriage and Family Therapy from St. Cloud State University. Becky is currently licensed by the Board of Marriage and Family Therapy of Minnesota to practice therapy with individuals, couples, and family systems. Becky has a diverse background providing therapeutic services in school systems, in-home family therapy, and out-patient community mental health settings.
Becky enjoys working with clients experiencing Anxiety, Depression, Mood Disorders, Adjustment Reactions, ADHD, Relationship and Marital problems. Becky especially enjoys working with children and adolescents experiencing a variety of stressors such as emotional issues, family conflict, anxiety, depression, trauma, crisis intervention, divorce and blended family issues, relationship issues, self-esteem and learning to balance the rigors of academic performance, while assisting them to integrate balanced mental health with the high-stress demands of life.
Becky has had extensive experience working within public school systems on a multi-disciplinary team to educate staff as well as clients and families to integrate well balanced mental health skills for both students and staff. Her clinical work has also included providing therapy in an out-patient setting to individuals and couples with a variety of mental health issues where she has participated with a multi-disciplinary staff of licensed professionals including psychologists, psychiatrists, and therapists helping to bring a collaborative approach to the well-being of her clients.
Becky’s therapeutic approaches include: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Family Systems. Becky values working toward the integration of all aspects of the human being (body, soul and spirit) by encouraging the integration of physical health, emotional and relational stability, and spiritual maturity. Becky brings an enthusiastic, optimistic and positive approach to therapy, loves people, gardening, reading, writing, biking with her husband and jazz music!
