Therapy that starts with you—your story,
your strengths, and your next step

Welcome. My name is Chantal.
I was born and raised in the Netherlands, and I have had the privilege of working with people from a wide range of backgrounds, ethnicities, cultures, religions, abilities, and ages. That experience shapes how I sit with you in the room. Therapy is most meaningful when we begin where you are—not where someone else thinks you should be.
I strive to create a safe, compassionate, and nonjudgmental space. A place where you can better understand yourself, recognize your strengths, process emotions, and find your own path forward.
You are the expert on your own life
My role is not to tell you who you should become. It is to walk alongside you, offer support and tools, and help you discover what already lives inside you.
Each person’s story is shaped by culture, relationships, family history, and lived experience. My multilingual and multicultural background has given me a deep appreciation for those differences. I do not assume one way of healing fits everyone.
I work with adolescents and adults, including people on the Autism Spectrum, in a variety of settings. I also support clients navigating:
- Autism
- ADHD
- Anxiety
- Social skills
- Life transitions
- Stress management
- Communication challenges
- Couples counseling
- Self-esteem building
Whether you feel stuck, overwhelmed, disconnected from others, or unsure of the next step, we can identify what matters most to you and build meaningful, realistic steps toward change.
How we work together
My approach is holistic and individualized. I draw from:
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) — to notice patterns in thoughts, feelings, and behaviors and practice new responses
- Strengths-based therapy — to name what is already working and build from there
- Solution-focused therapy — to move toward the life you want, one clear step at a time
When it is a good fit, I also incorporate Brainspotting. This is a body-based approach that can help process emotions and experiences that are hard to reach with words alone. Some people carry tension, memories, or overwhelm in the body. Brainspotting can support that work gently and at your pace.
You do not have to have the “right” words when you arrive. We start with what you bring.
What this can look like in real life
You might be an adult who has always felt “different” and is now exploring autism or ADHD. You might be a partner who wants better communication and less misunderstanding. You might be in a season of change—school, work, family, identity—and feel the ground shifting under you. You might simply be tired of carrying anxiety and stress alone.
In session, we slow down. We listen. We look at strengths as carefully as we look at pain. We practice skills you can use outside the room: grounding, clearer communication, self-compassion, and small experiments that build confidence.
Healing does not have to be dramatic to be real. Often it is quieter: feeling a little more like yourself, speaking up a little sooner, or knowing what you need and asking for it.
A note from outside the office
Outside of work, I love time with family and loved ones, visiting family in the Netherlands, hiking, exploring new places, and being creative. Those parts of my life remind me that rest, connection, and curiosity matter—for my clients and for me.
If you are looking for counseling in Shakopee, Waconia, or nearby communities—and you want a therapist who will meet you with respect, curiosity, and practical tools—I would be honored to support you.
You do not have to have it all figured out to begin.
Ready to take a first step?
Request an appointment with Lighthouse Counseling Ltd. or call (855) 454-2463. I see clients in Shakopee and Waconia, and telehealth is available.
You are the expert on your own life. Let’s walk the next part of the path together.
